Directory Index Hierarchy (Windows Servers)
The Directory Index Hierarchy is the naming order Web servers use to load your home page files.
For example, if you place two home pages on the server, one named "index.htm" and the other named "index.html", the Web server will load "index.htm" as your home page.
The Directory Index Hierarchy for Windows servers is:
index.html
index.htm
index.asp
index.shtml
default.html
default.htm
default.asp
Default.aspx
If the server does not find one of the above pages to load, the following error will be displayed:
Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.
